Canterbury Tiled Mosaic Dolphin & Fish Ocean with Custom Designed hand crafted tiling.
This Renovation was done with love and turned out to be a hiant work of art. View the incredible difference we made to this amazingly artistic property.
This is a project we hold especially close to our hearts. We had always hoped that someone would want to bring a vision like this to life, as it is rarely undertaken today. The artistic detail, combined with the elegance of a fully tiled swimming pool, creates a finish that is truly unrivalled.
In the heart of Monomeath Avenue — long celebrated for its history of elegance and prestige — we were invited to restore a once-abandoned swimming pool during a major home renovation. While the tennis court was being refurbished, the pool had been left without its filtration system and soon turned green. As the house renovations drew to a close, the builder approached us with a special request: to transform the pool into a fully tiled ocean landscape featuring two dolphins and fish mosaics.
This was the type of project we love most — challenging, intricate, and creatively rewarding. Using the client’s supplied tiles, our team brought the vision to life with precision and artistry.
The result is not only the most decorated pool we have ever completed, but also a statement of timeless beauty, perfectly suited to the character of Monomeath Avenue, Canterbury.
This swimming pool is not just tiled. It is custom mosaic art, permanently built into the floor of the pool itself.
The dolphin and marine imagery is supplied from the factory in numbered mosaic sheets, designed to form the overall composition when installed correctly. These sheets establish the scale, proportions, and core artwork. However, they represent only the foundation of the process, not the finished result.
The entire pool floor is brought together by hand on site, where the tiler’s skill becomes critical. While the mosaic arrives pre assembled in sections, it is the tiler’s responsibility to interpret, refine, and bring the artwork to life. Each mosaic tile functions like a pixel, and small adjustments are often required to improve curves, sharpen details, refine transitions between sheets, and ensure the image reads naturally once viewed through water.
A dolphin mosaic pool floor like this is not a standard product or a simple insert that can be placed without thought. There are no shortcuts. The sheets must be aligned precisely, blended seamlessly, and selectively adjusted so dolphins, fish, bubbles, and ocean grass flow as one continuous underwater scene rather than a collection of separate factory panels. Once the pool is filled, water magnifies every detail, which is why experience and judgement matter so much at installation stage.
Mosaic pool artwork demands extreme patience and technical precision. Alignment must be exact. Curves must remain smooth across multiple sections. Grout joints must stay consistent across thousands of individual tiles. Even minor imperfections become visible once submerged. This level of work can only be executed by experienced pool tilers who understand waterproofing systems, tile adhesion, structural movement, and how light and refraction affect underwater artwork.
Unlike painted or surface applied finishes, tiled mosaic pool art is permanent. It becomes part of the pool shell itself. When completed correctly, it can last for decades without fading, peeling, or deterioration. The tiles, adhesives, and grout are all selected specifically for constant immersion and long term exposure to pool chemicals, which is why this type of work is carried out during major renovations or full resurfacing projects.
This style of mosaic artwork, featuring dolphins, fish, and marine themes, is most commonly found in high end architectural pools, luxury residences, and bespoke resort environments. It is not chosen for convenience. It is chosen by clients who value craftsmanship, originality, and permanence. For some, the cost may appear high when viewed purely as a tiled surface. For more refined tastes, the price becomes secondary, and the outcome is what matters.

Every mosaic pool floor tells its own story.
While the artwork may originate from a factory design, the final result depends heavily on the tiler’s imagination, judgement, and attention to detail. Tile placement, colour balance, sheet transitions, pool depth changes, lighting conditions, and viewing angles are all considered so the artwork reads correctly once underwater.
Because of this complexity, custom mosaic swimming pool designs are expensive by nature. They require advanced tiling skills, specialist materials, extended labour time, and absolute precision. This is not decorative tiling.
It is functional art installed in one of the most demanding environments a tiled surface can exist in.
This pool stands as an example of what is possible when mosaic design, technical knowledge, and patience come together. A fully tiled pool floor featuring dolphins, fish, and ocean life is not only visually striking, it represents one of the highest levels of swimming pool craftsmanship available today.
If you are searching for mosaic pool tile art, dolphin mosaic swimming pools, custom pool mosaics, or luxury mosaic swimming pool designs, this project demonstrates what professionally executed pool mosaic work looks like when the focus is on the result, not the shortcuts.
